DCI Bags NMPT Dredging Contract

New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has selected Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) to perform the post-monsoon maintenance dredging of the port, informs the NMPT.

Under the contract, DCI will carry out the post monsoon dredging operations, including the dredging at berth no 16.

Port officials expect dredging to begin from mid-September 2019.

The contractor will deploy a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) to complete the maintenance dredging project.

NMPT also announced that Mercator Ltd discontinued the dredging work at the port from June onwards.

The release said NMPT maintained the declared drafts during the monsoon period as done in the previous years. A vessel owned by Shipping Corporation of India — MT Desh Rakshak — drawing a draft of 13.5 meters, berthed at berth no. 11 on August 31.
