Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. has published a video of the Dublin Port Capital Dredging operations carried out recently under the Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project.
The contractor performed the project by using the trailer suction hopper dredger FREEWAY.
The Alexandra Basin Redevelopment Project involves the creation/rehabilitation of 3km of quay walls, new berthing facilities and the capital dredging scheme.
During the capital dredging, Boskalis successfully removed existing accumulated sediments in order to create a new/expanded navigational channel within Dublin Bay with a ruling depth of -10m CD.
Deepening of the channel will provide significant benefits to Dublin Port by increasing infrastructure capacity, navigational safety and draught accommodation, and expand tidal access.
