According to the Portsmouth City Council’s latest release, the next set of defenses, the fourth of five phases which make up the £58m North Portsea Island Coastal Defense Scheme, has been split into two sections.

The first will begin at the top of Eastern Road near Kendall’s Wharf, covering an area of approximately 300 meters.

Planning permission has been granted for this section with work set to begin at the end of September.

The second package of work involves the construction of a sea wall along 2.1km of coastline down Eastern Road.

A planning application has been submitted for this work and is currently being consulted on through the Local Planning Authority via the Portsmouth City Council website.

Should planning approval be granted, Mackley will begin work in this area in September 2020.
