In view of limited period of ice-free navigation in the Far North region, dredging season of 2019 is to be over in the second decade of October, Rosatom’s Northern Sea Route Directorate said at its on-site meeting chaired by Vyacheslav Ruksha, Deputy General Director of Rosatom.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Rosatom, Hydrographic Company, NOVATEK, Arctic LNG 2, Mordraga and other organizations.

As reported, the period of ice-free navigation at the site lasts for only 60-70 calendar days per year.

To implement the program on delivery of construction cargo in 2020, the scope of dredging works in the water area and at the access canal should total 5.4 million cbm this year. 4.7 million cbm of bottom soil has been dredged as of 4 October 2019.

Total scope of dredging needed to reach the designed parameters of the water area and the access canal is to exceed 26 million cbm.

In 2019, the fleet involved in dredging operations consisted of 8 units including a suction-cutter dredger, trailing suction hopper dredgers, self-propelled hopper barge and support vessels.

Mordraga LLC is the only contractor of dredging works in 2019 for the Utrenny terminal.
