A new video has been released showing unique footage of progress on the Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet Coastal Storm Risk Management Project (FIMI).

In the video, Project Manager, Robert Vohden, discussed the particulars of Contract 3B2 and how its benefiting the community of Fire Island.

The FIMI Project was designed to provide coastal storm risk management from coastal erosion and tidal inundation through construction of a beach berm and dune.

The contractor for the project – Weeks Marine Inc. – will place around 2.3 million cubic yards of sand to construct this dune and berm system.

The overall project started in June 2019, with completion of the works set for the summer of 2020.
