Cormac recently won an important award for the design and build of the Long Rock Coastal Protection Project.

The company received the CEEQUAL’s “Excellent” Whole Team Award for this task.

The project involves three elements to improve resilience to flooding and coastal erosion along the coastal front of Mount’s Bay.

It also included a huge 350 meters of new rock armor tied in to the existing sea defenses, where all materials were kept on site and re-used within the scheme.

The project also included considerable enhancement to wildlife habitats nearby at Marazion Marsh.

Also, impact to water environment in this area was minimized by using an amphibious excavator to create the open water channels.

The Long Rock Coastal Improvements Project is a £3.7m initiative.

Finally, it aims to improve resilience to flooding and coastal erosion along the frontage of Mount’s Bay.
