Annual dredging underway at Port Solent

ML (UK) Dredging Ltd has begun routine maintenance dredging of the Port Solent Approaches.

According to the Port Solent Marina, the dredging started on Monday, 1st March 2021 within the lock entrance and approach channel of the marina.

The works are anticipated to last for three weeks, dependant on the weather and will start within the lock entrance and work upwards to the approach channel.

For the project, the company is using the backhoe dredger “Witton II” and the self-propelled barge “Split Two”.

Last year, ML Dredging removed over 6000m3 of silt and mud from the channel.
