Maldives Transport and Contracting Company Plc (MTCC) has just released a couple of interesting updates about the ongoing dredging and land reclamation projects in the country.

The first one was for the M. Dhiggaru land reclamation project. According to the company, MTCC today held an event there to mark the commencement of physical works of the island’s land reclamation and shore protection project.

Scope of works for the M. Dhiggaru project include: reclamation operations of 25 hectares; construction of a rock boulder revetment and breakwater. The value of the project is $7.9 million.

The next update was for the N. Landhoo Harbor development project. As reported by MTCC, dredging works for this harbor development project have been completed.

Overall, the project includes dredging and excavation operations of 25,000cbm (complete); the construction of a 256m quay wall; a 401m breakwater; and a 60m revetment. The value of the project is $2.1 million.
