The widening of Castletown Beach is on track for completion late next month , the Government of Western Australia informs.

Under the project, more than 40,000 cubic metres of sand was pumped 3.6 kilometres from Bandy Creek Boat Harbour to replace eroding sections of the beach.

To widen the beach, temporary onshore pipelines are transporting sand from the entrance channel at the Bandy Creek Boat Harbour where dredging is underway to restore depths and ensure safe access to the harbour.

A lot of cubic metres of sand will be pumped to replace eroding sections of the beach, widen the coastline, protect the foreshore and enhance the beach for locals and visitors.

The $1.5 million joint project is scheduled for completion late next month.

The McGowan Government recently announced $4 million of coastal grants to projects across the State to help protect and enhance WA’s iconic coastline.
