Dredging works on the Sea Canal in the Gulf of Ob are in full swing now.

At the moment, seven giant dredging vessels are busy working on the waterway. The main contractor is Mordraga LLC .

The first five dredgers arrived to the site on July 19, IAA PortNews reports.

The agreement on reconstruction of the Sea Canal under the ‘Priority projects on development of the Northern Sea Route’ was signed on April 24, 2020.

Prior to the 2021 works, FSUE Hydrographic Company provided all the permits required for the construction works.

The dredging operations on the waterway will be performed in two phases:

The total scope of dredging is estimated at 59.8 million cbm.
