Big recognition for the crew of hopper dredge Magdalen

The Council for Dredging and Marine Construction Safety (CDMCS) recently held their annual safety awards ceremony to recognize outstanding safety leadership in the dredging and marine construction industry.

CDMCS together with the USACE representatives, dredging contractors, Associated General Contractors of America and members from around the country, gathered on September 15th at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown in Washington, DC to celebrate those who go above and beyond in advancing a safety-first culture and leading by example.

Among the winners this year was Weeks Marine Inc. which received the Safety Appreciation Award. Travis Williams, Dredging Divison Safety Manager of Weeks Marine Inc. accepted the award on behalf of the crew of the Hopper Dredge Magdalen.

“We’re proud of our employees for their commitment to Weeks’ safety program,” the company said. “Crew members from our Magdalen received the Safety Appreciation Award from the Council for Dredging and Marine Construction for over 250,000 hours without a recordable or lost time incident.”

CDMCS presented its 3rd annual safety awards to the following visionaries:
