A groundbreaking ceremony for the Ocean Boulevard Improvement Project took place on Tuesday, April 26, the City of Pismo Beach said.

Granite Construction, the City’s contactor, is beginning mobilization activities this week.

The Ocean Boulevard Improvement project will repair storm damaged bluff face and infrastructure along Ocean Boulevard between Morro Avenue and Cuyama Avenue.

Also, this includes bluff stabilization, replacing the Morro Stairs beach access, and replacement of the Morro storm drain outfall.

The project will also improve coastal access along Ocean Boulevard.

Pismo Beach city officials said that they expect the project to take about 13 months complete.

The work is partially funded by Federal Emergency Relief funding and insurance.
