Jan De Nul Group has successfully finished work on the Matinhos beach renourishment project in Brazil.

According to Dieter Dupuis, Project Manager at Jan De Nul, last week – in the presence of the state government of Paraná – Jan De Nul Group concluded the beach enlargement in Matinhos.

A stretch of 6.3km of beach was widened up to 100m, protecting the area in between Canal da Avenida Paraná up to Balneário Flórida against coastal erosion, while stimulating tourism and the local industry.

In total, around 3 million cubic meters of sand were dredged by the state-of-the art trailing suction hopper dredger Galileo Galilei and deposited on to the beach area.

Thanks to TSHD Galileo Galilei and excellent teamwork, Jan De Nul Group managed to deliver this challenging project one month before schedule, well on time for the upcoming summer season.
