The Mornington Peninsula Shire, located south-east of Melbourne, Victoria, has completed works on the Mothers Beach dredging and beach nourishment project.

Dredging was undertaken at Mothers Beach, Mornington to provide safe access to and from the bay. The works commenced in mid-March and continued until late-April, the shire announced on its website.

The material removed during the dredging process was placed at Shire Hall Beach where sand levels have declined.

The dredging – approved under the Marine and Coastal Act 2018 and Parks Victoria – was completed by the Victorian Marine Services (VMS).
