Spoilbank Marina announced today that they have reached a major milestone – the entire marina basin has been excavated to design depth.
“We’re now turning our attention to the inner channel, excavating material from both sides of the bund and from the bund itself,” according to their official statement.
“With MGN Civil hard at work, the water inflow into the basin is increasing by the day. We’ll be turning off the dewatering pump soon and the basin will become tidal.”
The project is managed and delivered by Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA), in collaboration with the Department of Transport, Development WA, Pilbara Development Commission, BHP and the Town of Port Hedland.
PPA said that the Spoilbank Marina project is funded by the State Government, Town of Port Hedland and BHP.
The marina is expected to be operational in late 2023, with landside completion expected a few months after in 2024.
