EXCLUSIVE: Standard conducts first-ever biofuel bunkering operation for hybrid WID Maas

Standard Fuel Oils UK achieved a major milestone earlier this week by providing the first-ever renewable blend bunkers to the hybrid water injection dredger (WID) Maas in Liverpool. The bunkers were supplied on behalf of their long-standing customer Van Oord.

This renewable bunker supply complements the existing supply of AdBlue to this innovative vessel which is IMO TIER III compliant.

“The delivery of this renewable fuel blend is another step in the decarbonisation of our fleet. In addition to reducing the carbon footprint, this fuel also contributes to reducing local emissions. This delivery has become possible through collaboration between parties from the entire value chain,” said Marine Bourgeois, Project Manager at Van Oord.

Standard has been working with Van Oord to reach a suitable interim solution in achieving net zero for their client Peel Ports.

Dredging of the channel by Van Oord is a vital work which enables Peel Ports Liverpool2 terminal to receive post-Panamax vessels.
