The Ozama River in the Dominican Republic runs through the country’s capital and largest city, Santo Domingo, before reaching the Caribbean Sea.
This urban part of the river struggles with plastic waste and other pollution, invasive aquatic vegetation, and excess silt, compromising its health, navigability and safety.
