The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District is about to begin dredging operations at the mouth of the Kaskaskia River near Modoc, Illinois in Randolph County.

The dredging is intended to remove sediment from the river mouth, ensuring the channel remains open for commercial navigation.

During dredging operations, the river channel will not be closed however portions of the river may be temporarily inaccessible due to the positioning of dredging equipment.
