The harbour comprises an approach channel, quay walls, vessel berths, slipway and breakwater. The build-up of silt and sediment over time has restricted access to the port and reduced the mooring capacity of the harbour by up to 80%.

This project aims to open both the access channel and the entirety of the mooring to a reduced depth of 1.9m above Chart Datum resulting in the removal of approximately 9,000 cubic meters, to be confirmed by a bathymetric survey, of material to a licensed disposal facility.
