A dredging vessel has arrived at Hereford Inlet, and the dredging work for the North Wildwood emergency beach nourishment is expected to get underway soon.

The project will be conducted by H&L Contracting and Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD), the contractor and sub-contractor.

According to the city, the dredge in the ocean will essentially pump out sand and push it out through a large pipe, which will discharge thousands of cubic yards of sand onto the beach.

The contractors currently intend to pump sand on the beach at 7th Avenue, proceeding South to North, wrapping around the jetty at 2nd Avenue and John F. Kennedy Blvd.

Once this section is complete, it is expected that the contractor will return to 7th Avenue, continuing south.
