Jackson team has been busy lately in North East Lincolnshire placing 70,000 tonnes of rock armour on the Humber estuary’s south coast, as part of the Stallingborough Sea Defence Improvement Scheme.
Together with partners Ovenden Earthmoving Co and Aggregate Industries, Jackson is delivering the project on behalf on the Environment Agency.
The rock has been delivered in barges, each carrying 4,500 tonnes, from Oban on the West coast of Scotland direct to Immingham docks – a short distance from where the Stallingborough coastal defences are being constructed.
Once complete, new defences will be installed along a 4.5km stretch of coastline near Grimsby, coupled with various revetment repairs and landscaping.
