A maintenance dredging scheme at the Lake Worth Inlet in Palm Beach will begin this week, the Town said in a statement.
Under the program, USACE is expected to dredge 191,000 cubic yards of sand from the entrance to the channel for 2-3 weeks, and then pump the material onto the adjacent beach at Phipps Ocean Park and further south.
“ Periodic lane closures may occur along N. Ocean Blvd at Palmo Way as part of equipment deliveries, etc. Intermittent single-lane closures are expected to start on February 17, between Mockingbird Trail and Kenlyn Road ,” the Town said.
“A full lane closure for one to two days is expected on or around Febryary 26, 2025.”
According to the Town, the project -to be conducted with the cutter suction dredger E.W. Ellefson – is meant to ensure the inlet maintains an authorized depth and remains safe and accessible for vessels.
