The crew of Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company’s (GLDD) trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Galveston Island demonstrated teamwork and professionalism during a real-world maritime rescue near Sabine Pass last week.

After a Mayday call from a disabled vessel was picked up by the Annamaria Rose, the Galveston Island crew stepped in to relay critical information to the U.S. Coast Guard despite difficult radio conditions.

“ Later, through sharp observation and decisive action, the crew successfully located the stranded Boston Whaler – guided only by limited details and an orange emergency flag ,” GLDD said.

The crew remained on site, ensuring the safety of the two passengers until the USCG arrived and completed the rescue.
