HERBOSCH-KIERE's vessel Atlantis recently completed the filling of 'Dumping Area 42' in the Netherlands.
Just 115 meters from the Oosterschelde storm surge barrier, 17.700 tons of rock were placed to protect the underlying block mats from erosion, using two different rock gradings.
"An anchor pile standing two meters above the seabed right in the middle of the dumping area called for some careful manoeuvring. Thanks to our DP system, the Atlantis could place the rock precisely around the pile, without making contact," the company said.
The project was completed as a subcontractor for Van den Herik, on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat.
