The City of Port Phillip is working with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) to renourish Middle Park Beach between Mills and Langridge streets.
According to the City, these works will widen the beach, improve access and help protect nearby areas from storm damage.
The program is set to start in mid-September and is expected to be completed in November.
While works are underway, sections of the beach will be closed at different times, with temporary fencing in place, the City said.
The project was designed and engineered by independent coastal engineers to increase the beach area and minimize coastal erosion. A dredge will be used to recover sand approximately 750 meters offshore and pump it back onto the beach.
