This morning, the Philippines' President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the immediate dredging, desilting and deepening of the Pampanga River and nearby waterways to help mitigate flooding.
According to the Public Works Secretary, Vince Dizon, highly populated areas will be prioritized, including communities that experience flooding even without rain.
Also, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will assist local governments in implementing immediate flood-control measures while pursuing long-term, nature-based solutions with foreign experts.
