The reclamation and expansion operations of Macau International Airport (MIA) have been progressing in an orderly manner since commencing in the late 2024.
As to facilitate the upcoming reclamation and expansion of the runway artificial island and apron, the construction of a new taxiway and runway rehabilitation and improvement works are taking place at the same period to increase runway capacity.
Also, MIA has engaged in advance communication and coordination with the airlines regarding the project and adjusted flight schedules to minimize the impact on airport operations, and will maintain close communication with the contractor and monitor the progress of the works.
The reclamation works at MIA primarily involve land reclamation in the sea area between the artificial islands of the runway and the existing taxiways to increase apron capacity by creating additional aircraft stands and to build runway rapid exit, while reserving a 95-meter-wide water passage between the artificial island and the aircraft apron.
Construction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2030, MIA said.
