Turkey has launched the UAB Mavi Vatan, its first domestically designed trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD).
According to the Transport and Infrastructure Minister, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the new TSHD was designed by Artı Mühendislik, classed by Türk Loydu, and built at Yalova Arı Shipyard.
“With our Ministry’s own domestically built vessels, we will be able to carry out dredging and cleaning work, particularly in our bays,” Uraloğlu said.
The UAB Mavi Vatan has a length of 79.85 meters and a breadth of 15 meters, with a dredging depth of 20 meters.
The Minister also added that the new dredger will enter service after several months of sea trials.
