Manatee County said that the dredging and sand discharge operations for the Coquina Beach Renourishment project due to Hurricane Idalia wrapped up last week.
According to the County, remaining construction activities, including pipeline removal and beach tilling, are on track for completion this week to restore nearly a mile of Coquina Beach with 63,450 cubic yards of sand.
Also, localized closures will continue to move with the active work area, while the remainder of Coquina Beach remains open.
The project is federally funded through FEMA at a 75% cost share, with the balance split evenly between the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and Manatee County.
