Ecocoast has been appointed Authorized Systems and Service Partner for the GCC by Xylem, a global provider of water and environmental monitoring technologies.

The appointment covers the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar, and will see Ecocoast integrate Xylem sensing technologies, including YSI and Aanderaa instruments, into its configurable data buoy platforms.

"For dredging projects, a key application is turbidity monitoring, which is used to track suspended sediments and help ensure water quality remains within permitted limits. Monitoring requirements and the number and positioning of data buoys vary according to project size, location and specific application," Ecocoast said.

"The capability complements Ecocoast’s existing sediment control solutions, including the engineered silt curtains it has supplied to dredging and reclamation projects across the GCC. Combining physical sediment containment with real-time monitoring enables contractors and project teams to track water conditions during works and provides the data to support environmental compliance and operational decision-making."

Beyond dredging, the systems can support ports, coastal developments, desalination and power facilities, offshore operations, environmental compliance programs and marine research. Depending on the application, monitoring can extend beyond turbidity to parameters including dissolved oxygen (DO), pH, temperature, conductivity and salinity, Ecocoast concluded.
