Maintenance dredging work at the Lancelin Jetty is being fast tracked to help address severe erosion, Marine Safety WA said.
From next week through to December, approximately 14,000 cubic meters of accumulated sand will be cleared, then pumped through a pipeline onto beaches to the north, replenishing and widening areas subject to severe erosion.
Previously planned for April next year, the work will complement other measures being implemented to buy time for long-term decision making on how to best address rapid erosion threatening the coastline.
The dredging will also reduce sand accumulation at the jetty and maintain safe navigation for users.
