Puerto de Sevilla has completed the dredging operations across seven sections of the Guadalquivir waterway.
According to the Port, the project combined the traditional dredging methods with more sustainable solutions, such as water injection dredging (WID). This is a hydrodynamic technique that fluidizes fine underwater sediments so they move naturally along the seabed without mechanical digging.
The latest dredging program was carried out along the sections of the navigation channel that have experienced a significant increase in sediment volume as a result of the series of storms that affected Andalusia between November 2025 and February 2026.
Regarding the sustainable management of the dredged material, the Port will continue the ongoing beach replenishment works, such as those along the Doñana Natural Area coastline.
