The Government of Western Australia Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure said that their team at Exmouth Boat Harbor continue to deliver with the recent partial completion of breakwater repairs and work to deal with the build-up of sand at the facility.

Following the devastating impact of Cyclone Narelle in March, and to provide better protection from future significant weather events, work to increase the height of the northern breakwater was recently completed.

Also, there will be further work to reinforce the adjoining spur groyne before repairs focus on the southern breakwater.

Adding to this, sand bypassing started this week and will continue until mid-November 2026, relocating naturally accumulated sand from the southern and northern sides of the harbor to Town Beach.

The project is set to improve navigational safety at the harbor entrance and reduce windblown sand on road network, the Department concluded.
