Bird Construction's subsidiary Fraser River Pile and Dredge (FRPD), along with their partner Van Oord, is providing maintenance dredging services for the Fraser River navigation channel.

According to Bird, this work will help maintain safe and efficient access to the Port of Vancouver and support more than $100 billion in annual trade moving through the Fraser River corridor.

In September 2025, Van Oord and FRPD's partnership - RiverFlow Dredging (RiverFlow) - entered into a long-term agreement with the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority to provide maintenance dredging services for the Fraser River navigation channel.

RiverFlow's scope of work encompasses annual maintenance dredging of the Fraser River South Arm deep-sea channel, including the berths and approaches to the DP World Fraser Surrey marine terminal.

Under the agreement, approximately 3.0 to 4.5 million cubic meters of sediment will be dredged annually to keep the river navigable for deep-sea vessels.
