Port of Auckland said today that they are officially underway with completion of the consented reclamation at Fergusson and extension of Fergusson North wharf.

The reclamation of 10 hectares was consented in 2001 and this is the final phase of works.

"The wharf extension allows us to handle large container vessels up to 10,000 TEU and was consented under the Fast Track legislation in 2025," the Port said.

Alongside the extensions, they will begin its consented channel deepening in 2027.

"This trifecta of projects will be ready late next year and make Port of Auckland big ship capable with ample terminal capacity, allowing our valued shipping lines to call on our port with larger vessels," Port of Auckland concluded.
