The 12th Nigerian Dredging Summit and Exhibition will convene the stakeholders and the right chief executives and experienced resource persons to deliberate on these burning issues, including solutions to the menace of Apapa traffic gridlock in the short-term and long-term. It will also deliberate on other requisite conditions for positively re-positioning the Nigerian Ports for the future competition amongst ports in the West African region. These requisites include effective dredging campaigns to keep national ports in perfect clip for ship calls of all sizes; the evacuation of cargoes from the ports through seamless rail and road networks to inland container depots (ICDs), where customs examinations and cargo clearance can take place; the regulation of up-to-date port-state and flag-state control guidelines for all ports and terminal operators in the Nigerian jurisdiction; and, the upgrading of customs procedures using computerization, the information super-highway and the latest digital and smart applications to consummate the Federal Government’s Ease-of-Doing-Business campaign in our maritime trade.
