USA: Pass Christian Dredging Starts Soon

Dredging at Pass Christian public beach is anticipated to start on December 15. The harbor expansion is partly funded by the federal Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP).

This project was rejected by the Federal Management Service (MMS) two years ago for it was impossible not to perceive the contradiction of dredging new harbors in the name of coastal restoration using CIAP money.

Following the BP oil spill last year, MMS was penalized, restructured and renamed. The administrative chaos resulted in renewing and funding already rejected projects.
