Chief Minister Inaugurates Kattupalli Port

The Rs.3,375 crore Kattupalli Port and Shipyard have been inaugurated on Wednesday by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa.

According to nydailynews.com, this very important construction project has been undertaken by Larsen and Toubro, Tamil Nadu Investment Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO) and Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL).

The port facility comprises of 1.5 km long northern breakwater, 3 km long southern breakwater, 5 km long navigational channel with a depth of 15 m and other harbour related infrastructure.

The new shipyard, spread over 810 acres, is the largest in the country.
