A notice to proceed (NTP) was issued today to two contractors handling the $9.5 million major beach renourishment project on Collier County and Naples beaches.

Eastman Aggregate of Lake Worth is contracted to place 95,000 cubic yards of sand on Vanderbilt and Pelican Bay beaches and Phillips and Jordan of Zephyrhills has been contracted to place 155,000 cubic yards of sand on beaches within the City of Naples at Park Shore and Lowdermilk Park.

The county had hoped to start this major beach renourishment project in September but a petition made to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requesting that the project not begin until after turtle nesting season ends on Oct. 31, delayed the earlier start plans.
