One More Recognition for Littlehaven Scheme

Business & Finance

The Littlehaven Promenade and Sea Wall project has been shortlisted for Civil Engineering Project of the Year at the British Construction Industry Awards 2015.

Opening in 2014, the Littlehaven Promenade and Sea Wall project continues to capture the attention of award judges across the UK. This latest success takes the total number of awards the project has been shortlisted for to 12.

Speaking about the nomination for Civil Engineering Project of the Year (up to £10m), Royal HaskoningDHV’s Technical Director Nick Cooper said: “The project showcased innovation in design and delivery to create a visually striking long term sustainable and effective sea defense solution that has also enhanced the local society through its amenity and aesthetic features.”

The project team consisted of South Tyneside Council, contractors Galliford Try and landscape architects Oobe, working alongside consultants Royal HaskoningDHV.

This nomination follows on from two award wins at this month’s Constructing Excellence in the North East 2015 Awards, with Littlehaven winning Infrastructure Project of the Year and Project of the Year. This means that the project will represent the region at the national Constructing Excellence Awards in London later this year.

The Littlehaven scheme has previously won the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) North East Renaissance Awards 2014 for Infrastructure, and the ICE North East Robert Stephenson Award for projects over £4m.

The British Construction Industry 2015 Awards will take place on 14 October 2015.
