The project will also include the transport of dredged material to a designated beach placement site south of the inlet.

According to the latest U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) announcement, bids for this project were solicited via the internet with two received.

Work will be performed in Cape Canaveral, Florida, with an estimated completion date of April 30, 2019.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is the contracting activity.

According to USACE, economic benefits due to project implementation are based on reduced maintenance dredging of the Federal channel and the prevention of loss of lands and on-shore structures.
