Leaders in Berrien Springs have revealed their intention to clear a part of the Saint Joseph River, reports WSJM.

The village council has already discussed submitting applications to the US Army Corps of Engineers to obtain a five year permit for conducting dredging work in an area where fishermen launch their boats at Shamrock Park.

President Milt Richter is not sure how much the dredging will cost, however he stressed that Congressman Fred Upton’s office has been contacted in order to help with this.

Should the Army Corps issue the permit for dredging, these activities could be conducted this summer.
