Congressman Jeff Landry released the following statement after voting for H.Con.Res. 113 – the Republican Study Committee (RSC) Fiscal Year 2013 Budget (which Congressman Landry cosponsored) – and H.Con.Res. 112 — the Paul Ryan Budget for Fiscal Year 2013:
“ Today, my colleagues and I did not follow the President’s plan of more spending, more borrowing, and more debt. We did not follow the Senate’s plan of doing nothing and ignoring our problems. Rather, we led and passed a budget. We voted to curb wasteful spending so we can reduce our nation’s enormous debt – something that exploded when Washington politicians voted to increase our borrowing limit last year. We voted to allocate the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund for dredging – something I got added to the budget. And we voted to defund efforts that force Americans to violate their religious beliefs – something I also got added to the budget. Although I am disappointed Washington politicians did not join me in cosponsoring and voting for the RSC Budget to cut, cap, and balance the government’s budget – I am glad they followed my lead for fiscal sanity, port dredging, and religious freedom. ”
