Honeywell International Inc. has hired Peter Alberti as an adviser for emergency preparedness during the company’s cleanup operations on Onondaga Lake, according to syracuse.com.

Alberti will join a team of professionals from the Parsons, O’Brien & Gere and Anchor QEA engineering companies, who have developed health and safety plans for the project.

He will help coordinate with emergency responders and Honeywell safety teams to ensure personnel are prepared to handle any emergency during a dredging operation that will start this summer and continue for four years, Honeywell said.

Honeywell plans to remove 2 million cubic yards of contaminated soil from the lake bottom.
