ABC News reports that Inpex is ramping up preparations to dredge a shipping channel in Darwin Harbor.

From this week, divers, survey boats and barges will begin working in the channel area.

Energy giant says it is surveying to get an accurate picture of the harbor floor before dredging project commences.

There will be an increase in harbor traffic and Inpex is asking those using the harbor shipping channel to take notice of new signs and activity.
