UK: CHC Introduces Eastern Channel Dredging Plan

Cowes Harbour Commission has announces early information about the breakwater construction and dredging project at the Cowes area.

The project details:

A contractor is required for infrastructure works associated with Cowes Outer Harbour Project (COHP) which comprises III phases.

The contracting authority plans to appoint one design and build contractor under a single provider framework to undertake the full scope of Infrastructure Works required by the project.

The infrastructure works package includes:

Phase I: A permanent breakwater for the Outer Harbour;

Phase II: A short extension to the existing Shrape Breakwater structure;

Phase III: The dredging of a new Eastern Channel for small craft.

It is the Contracting Authority’s intention that all 3 phases of the project are developed and costed during framework tender negotiation and that the framework will be awarded to the bidder who most successfully meets the Contracting Authority’s evaluation criteria.

Negotiation to identify the framework contractor is to be completed by early 2013.

The deadline for expressions of interest is October 8, 2012 and the project value is between £7,000,000 and £9,000,000.

The project period is 48 months from date of contract award.
