Mike Nguyen, project manager , said: “ Contractors for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were scheduled to begin removing the first bucketfuls of sediment from the federal channel Sept. 4, but the date now tentatively has been pushed back to the middle of October.”

The Army Corps’ plan includes removing some 4.6 million cubic yards of contaminated sediment from the waterways and permanently store the material in a 186-acre confined disposal facility built on Indianapolis Boulevard at Riley Road.
