The Port of Gulfport dredging project will bring major benefits to the Deer Island area.
“The partnership with the Port of Gulfport sets a precedent with the beneficial use of dredge material, ” said George Ramseur, a DMR marine administrator .
According to clarionledger.com, this dredged material can be used to re-create marsh habitats that are beneficial for commercial and recreational fishing.
“ The dredging portion of the contract will be completed in about three weeks ,” concluded Ramseur.
