U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) yesterday announced a $756,350 federal investment that will go to the Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District for the construction of a new Channel Cat Passenger Ferryboat Terminal on the Mississippi River in Moline.

The grant was awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Discretionary Passenger Ferry Grant Program.

“This federal funding will create jobs and make improvements to the ferry terminals, making sure they are safe and accessible for many years to come,” said Senator Durbin.

“The Mississippi River is a vital transportation corridor in our region, and this grant will help the Quad Cities meet its infrastructure and transportation needs while also creating jobs and growing the local economy ,” said Congresswoman Cheri Bustos.
