Italdraghe recently handed over a complete set of dredging equipment to a diamond mining company operating in Mali.

Due to the client’s urgent need to commence river extraction operations immediately, Italdraghe agreed to overhaul a PD 200 dredger originally built by Draghe Lario (an Italian dredger/pump manufacturer belonging to the Italdraghe Group) and to modify a workboat to transform it into a self-propelled stand-alone dredging unit.

With the machines working in tandem the project will be able to get off to the quick start that the client required.

Work on the dredger included a complete overhaul of all engine room equipment, repair of the dredging arm and refitting of control panel instrumentation.

The PO 13510 workboat, originally built by Italdraghe for the dredging company Italiana Dragaggi, was effectively converted from a support boat into an independent self-propelled dredging unit.

The project saw the design and construction of a new dredging arm fitted with an Italdraghe BDC 150 cutter/pump head, an Italdraghe 50 hp rudder propeller (with 40° + 40° rotation) and a new IVECO N67 engine as well as an enhanced purpose-designed power pack.
